Property Compared (“Property Compared”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides an online property-comparison service. What personal information we collect

We aim to collect only the information we need to provide and improve the service. This includes:

• Account details — your email address (and, where you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us).
• Saved comparisons — the property comparisons you create and choose to save to your account.
• Saved addresses (“My Places”) — the property addresses and locations you save for later reference.
• Usage and technical data — limited information such as basic log data generated when you interact with the service, used to keep it secure and reliable.

Why we collect it

We use your personal information to:

• create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• save and display your comparisons and saved addresses across your sessions and devices;
• operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service;
• respond to your enquiries and provide customer support; and
• comply with our legal obligations.

How your information is stored and processed

We use Supabase as our hosting and database provider. Supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf and stores account data, saved comparisons, and saved addresses. We rely on Supabase’s security controls together with our own access controls to protect your information. Some processing may occur on servers located outside Australia; we take reasonable steps to ensure any overseas recipient handles your information consistently with the APPs.

Cookies

Property Compared uses essential cookies that are necessary to sign you in and keep you authenticated during your session. These authentication cookies are required for the service to function and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from signing in.

Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your account data, saved comparisons, and saved addresses within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with our legal obligations.

Your rights under the Australian Privacy Act

Under the APPs, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you — you can download a copy of your data at any time from your account settings;
• Correct personal information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete; and
• Delete your account and associated personal information. Account deletion is available directly from your account settings.

To make an access or correction request, or if you have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the service where appropriate.
